The more self-love we have, the less we will experience self-abuse. Self-abuse comes from self-rejection, and self-rejection comes from having an image of what it means to be perfect and never measuring up to that ideal.
When we let go of perfection, we create space for compassion. When we choose acceptance, we begin to heal the parts of us that were told we weren’t enough. Self-love isn’t about ignoring flaws—it’s about recognizing that our worth has never depended on flawlessness.
The moment we stop chasing an impossible image of ‘perfect,’ we give ourselves permission to grow, to rest, to try again, and to actually enjoy who we are becoming.
